lockdown

In December of 2019, the world has become aware of a virus spreading in China, which affects the respiratory system. Eventually, in the first quarter of the year 2020, the world transitioned into lockdown quarantine protocols to isolate the spread of the virus in communities. While outside activity is prohibited and helping the city is the priority, these thoughtful ideas during lockdown listed below are ways to improve our families and our communities constructively.

Acknowledge Your Feelings Fully

quarantineUnderestimating the current situation and judging ourselves for feeling afraid and disoriented is one of the enormous mistakes that we can make regarding our feelings. We should avoid being neutral to all the things that were happening and avoid having no energy to do activities like working out, communicating with people, or even meditate. The feeling of stagnation, inadequacy, and guilt will consume us. The only thing we can do is give ourselves the chance to react, feel, or numb out feelings until we can process the things happening around us before we reconnect with reality. Accepting our emotions will give us relief and a chance to breathe, move, and do activities without the feeling of us forcing us to do it.

Stay Informed

We should tone down unnecessary notifications and should only focus on two trusted sources for information every day. Staying away from the news will help our families sleep regularly and maintain stress amounts as it strays us from anxiety due to the various news reported every hour.

Move Your Body

After feeling stagnant, unresponsive, and numb for a while, this is the moment to get active. Remember that being at home means limiting the number of outdoor activities, but we should remember that staying at home means staying healthy. Exercise can strengthen the immune system in these times and will benefit us in the long run after the lockdown and pandemic have passed.

Reach Out

Not all our family members or friends may be equipped with a decent amount of sensitivity, strength, and compassion to help us during these challenging times, but reaching out to relatives and friends through calls and online messaging can ease loneliness and sadness these trying times. Communicating can also keep our sanity intact because lockdown protocols suggest that people stay indoors until such a time the pandemic or the virus has been eradicated.

Make an Effort to Look Normal

During a lockdown, most people become lazy and neglect themselves by staying at home and looking reasonable means taking care of themselves, even in lockdown. Dressing up once in a while is okay, and setting up fancy silverware in dinnertime can help us have a typical life experience.
